'Life Without Principle' will wrap up the official selection for this year's Venice film festival.

ROME, Aug 10 – Hong Kong action film director Johnnie To's new movie "Life Without Principle" about financial greed will wrap up the official selection for this year's Venice film festival, organisers said today.

The movie tells the story of three characters – a bank teller, a thug and a police inspector – who are in dire need of money and whose stories interlink when a bag of stolen money worth US$5.0 million (RM15 million) pops up.

"This is a turbulent world. In order to survive, people have no choice but play the game. No matter how hard you try to follow the rules, sooner or later, a part of you will be lost," To was quoted as saying about his new film.

Fifty-four-year old To's previous films "The Mad Detective", "Exiled" and "Throw Down" were also in competition for the prestigious Golden Lion award.

The festival starts on August 31 and concludes on September 10. – AFP
