LOS ANGELES, Sept 14 —  Samuel L. Jackson and Quentin Tarantino are together again. Jackson has taken a role in the director's "Django Unchained," TheWrap has confirmed.

Leonardo DiCaprio stars as the evil Calvin Candie. Jamie Foxx plays Django.

The movie is described as a spaghetti western, but it's an especially violent one. Django is a slave who is freed by a bounty hunter who kills — instead of merely capturing — the outlaws he searches for. The bounty hunter, a German dentist, befriends Django and helps him free his wife from a vile plantation owner, Candie.

Jackson will play Stephen, a sadistic slave in Candie's home.

Tarantino wrote and is directing the film. Having Jackson on the set will be familiar for him. The two worked together in the 1994 "Pulp Fiction," the 1997 "Jackie Brown," the 2004 "Kill Bill: Vol. 2" and the 2009 "Inglorious Basterds."

The Weinstein Company will release "Django Unchained" domestically. Sony Pictures will handle it internationally.

Indian actress banned from acting over alleged affair

Posted: 14 Sep 2011 07:29 AM PDT

MUMBAI, Sept 14 — A Kannada film actress has been banned from the industry for three years over an alleged affair with a co-star.

Nikita Thukral was slapped with the ban after co-star Darshan's wife accused the two of having an affair.

Darshan was arrested on charges of domestic violence last week after his wife Vijaylakshmi lodged a complaint with the police. A local court rejected his bail plea yesterday.

"When the outside person (sic) goes out, the problem automatically gets solved," President of the Karnataka Film Producers' Association, Munirathnam, told Reuters.

"This is a very serious issue involving a family," he said.

The association said Thukral (picture) was banned from acting only in Kannada movies, and was free to act in movies in any other language.

Thukral herself declined to comment on the issue, telling Reuters in a text message that the "artists association is looking into the matter."

While the Kannada film industry hasn't reacted openly, social networks were full of protests from outraged fans.

"Why is Nikita Thukral blamed for what Darshan did to his wife? Instead of banning actress, (sic) they should question Darshan," Faizan Lakhani wrote on Twitter.
