Playwright Lee Hall will provide the script. Asked to comment on the reports, John's London spokesman replied only: "Just discussions." He did not expand on whether anyone had been singled out to play the lead in the movie, although the Sun tabloid said Scottish actor James McAvoy had been tipped for the role. John and Hall have worked together before on the hit musical adaptation of the dance movie "Billy Elliot". " 'Rocketman' will be a radically different kind of biopic," Shaw told Hollywood entertainment website Deadline, adding that it would be "non-linear and hyper-visual". Initial reports of plans for a John biopic surfaced in early 2011. The 64-year-old behind hits including "Candle in the Wind" and "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" was a child piano prodigy who rose from a part-time pub player to become one of the most successful recording artists of all time. The glam rocker has sold an estimated 250 million records and won an Oscar and several Grammys. John, Furnish and Shaw have worked together before on a movie through their Rocket Pictures venture. Their 3D animation "Gnomeo and Juliet" grossed US$190 million (RM598.6 million) at the global box office, according to website boxofficemojo.com. — Reuters |
| Disgraced pastor Ted Haggard to appear in ‘Wife Swap’ Posted: 23 Sep 2011 02:29 AM PDT  Ted Haggard to trade partners on air with actor Gary Busey. — Reuters pic Haggard's participation in the episode comes five years after a stunning fall from grace for the former president of the National Association of Evangelicals. He was exiled from the Colorado-based New Life mega-church he founded after admitting "sexual immorality" and buying methamphetamines from a male masseur. The air date for the episode on ABC starring Haggard and Busey had not been determined, but the two men would swap partners, said Brooke Fisher, a spokeswoman for the show. Haggard's wife Gayle has written a book about her husband's gay sex scandal titled "Why I Stayed". Busey's long-time girlfriend is actress Steffanie Sampson, and while the two are not married they have a son together who was born last year. Busey is best known for starring in the 1978 film "The Buddy Holly Story", and he also recently had a recurring role on the HBO television show "Entourage". — Reuters |
