James McAvoy is currently shootingJames McAvoy is currently shootingThe British actor will share the screen with Daniel Radcliffe in this new interpretation of the famous Mary Shelley novel, deadline.com reports.

Twentieth Century Fox has its sights set on James McAvoy for the lead role in this project launched last year.

While the terms of the actor's contract are still being discussed, it is fairly certain that he will portray Victor von Frankenstein, the mad scientist who succeeds in giving life to a creature made of dead body parts.

Recently seen in "Trance", the actor will act alongside his fellow Englishman Daniel Radcliffe, who will play the mad doctor's loyal assistant, Igor.

The film will be directed by Paul McGuigan, who was behind four particularly impressive episodes of the BBC series "Sherlock".
