Record comeback for “Breaking Bad” in the US Posted: 13 Aug 2013 04:44 PM PDT Following rave reviews from TV critics, who lavished even more praise on the show than in previous seasons, and in the wake of lead actor Bryan Cranston's rounds on the talk show circuit, "Breaking Bad" achieved a new record number of viewers when its final season returned to US television last Sunday. The second half of the show's fifth and final season got off to a stellar start, drawing 5.9 million viewers. This is a first for the series, whose audience has doubled since last summer. The very first episode, which aired on AMC in 2008, attracted an initial 1.4 million curious viewers. Since then, "Breaking Bad" has come a long way. Critically acclaimed worldwide, the drama has been honored with seven Emmy awards, including those awarded to its leading actor, Bryan Cranston. The series, whose final episode will air September 29, has been nominated for eight additional Emmy Awards in the 2013 edition of the ceremony, to be held September 22. - AFP/Relaxnews, August 14, 2013. |
