Dakota Fanning to headline road movie as 1980s punk

Fanning, who starred opposite Sean Penn at age eight in "I Am Sam" in 2001, has been cast as a roadie traveling across America with a punk band. Through the sometimes dangerous journey, her character will come to learn more about herself.

No production dates have been announced for this coming-of-age tale. The project will mark Gerard Naranjo's return behind the camera since directing the pilot for "The Bridge", the series headlined by Diane Kruger and Demian Bichir.

Dakota Fanning is currently on the set of "Franny", in which she plays a young newlywed dealing with a rich and lonely 60-something who decides to ingratiate himself into her life. Richard Gere and Theo James are Fanning's co-stars in this independent film, directed by Andrew Renzi. - AFP/Relaxnews, November 19, 2013.

According to Deadline.com, Warner Bros Pictures are eyeing Javier Bardem to play the pirate Blackbeard, the main antagonist in the forthcoming adventure movie.

"Pan" will be loosely based on the writings of JM Barrie, published during the early 20th century. The feature will depict how the orphan arrived in Neverland and became the hero of the Lost Boys after fighting Blackbeard and his band of pirates. His first meeting with Tinkerbell will also make an appearance in the movie, which is planned for filming in 2014.

Bardem, aged 44, can be seen in theatres now in Ridley Scott's "The Counselor", a crime thriller featuring Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz and Bardem's wife Penelope Cruz. Currently, alongside Sean Penn, Bardem is on the set of Pierre Morel's "The Gunman", an adaptation of French crime novelist Jean-Patrick Manchette's "The Prone Gunman". - AFP/Relaxnews, November 19, 2013.
