Candid excerpts tease Schwarzenegger autobiography Posted: 25 Sep 2012 06:50 AM PDT Arnold Schwarzenegger during his time as Californian governor. – AFP pic In excerpts taken from the book, the former Mr. Universe, blockbuster movie star, and governer of California writes about a visit to his therapist in the company of his then-wife, Maria Shriver. "The minute we sat down, the therapist turned to me and said: 'Maria wanted to come here today and to ask about a child – whether you fathered a child with your housekeeper Mildred'," reads an excerpt published by the New York Daily News. The meeting took place almost immediately after Schwarzenegger left his post as Californian governor. As for how he'd kept the secret for 15 years, "instead of doing the right thing, I'd just put the truth in a mental compartment and locked it up where I didn't deal with it every day" – but eventually, the truth came out, and Schwarzenegger admitted it would have been better to tell his wife beforehand. Schwarzenegger's autobiography Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story, to be released October 1, will join those of Ronald Reagan (An American Life), George Murphy (Say... Didn't You Used to Be George Murphy?) and fellow Predator co-star Jesse Ventura (I Ain't Got Time to Bleed) in charting a Hollywood actor's journey to political office.
