Manchester United manager David Moyes (pic) has been charged with misconduct for his post-match comments about the referee after Tuesday's League Cup defeat at Sunderland, the Football Association said today.

Moyes was unhappy with the match officials following the 2-1 defeat – United's third consecutive loss – particularly Andre Marriner's decision to award a free kick to Sunderland which resulted in their opening goal.

"We've got an opposition to play and sometimes we've got other people to play at the moment," Moyes was quoted as saying after the first leg defeat.

Charging Moyes, the FA alleged the comments "called into question the integrity of the match officials".

"Moyes has until 6pm (local time) on January 15 to respond to the charge," the FA said. – Reuters, January 10, 2014.

Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) athlete Muhammad Ezuan Nasir Khan stole the show on the second day of the Selangor Open Shooting Championship 2014 today by breaking the national record in the 50m Rifle Prone men's individual event at the Subang national shooting range.

He scored 206.2 points to erase the 204.5 points record set by elite national athlete Hisyam Adzha from Perak, during the Tun Hanif shooting championship in June at the same venue.

The achievement increased his collection of gold medals to three; two of the medals were from his wins in the 10m Air Rifle individual and team events yesterday.

The MAF team dominated the competition today with a haul of five gold medals including Muhammad Ezuan's contributions.

Elite national female athlete Nur Suryani Mohamed Taibi was the MAF's best contender today after winning two gold for her team.

She was tied at 594 points with another elite national athlete, Nur Ayuni Farhana Abd Halim from Pahang, in the 50m Rifle Prone individual event but was declared the victor by the competition jury after a six-round shoot-off to determine the winner.

Nur Suryani won her second gold in the 50m Rifle Prone team event with two other elite national athletes, Haslisa Hamed and Muslifah Zulkifli after scoring 1,771 points.

The silver and bronze went to the Pahang and Terengganu trios with 1,761 and 1,729 points respectively.

Two more gold collected by the MAF team were from Khalel Abdullah through the 25m Centre Fire Pistol individual men's event, and the team event powered by Khalel, Mohamad Ridhuan Mohamed and Aziz Yunus.

Meanwhile, the Pahang team continued their outstanding run on the second day of the National Youth Shooting Championship 2014 that was being held at the same venue, with three gold medals.

Their trio of Mohd Nazirul Azhar Abd Mutalib, Mohd Nurrahimin Abd Halim and Mohd Zulhilman Abd Mutalib contributed the first gold through the 50m Rifle Prone team event with a score of 1,727 points.

The second gold came from Abdul Aziz Abd Malik, Luqman Nul Hakim and Mohd Aiman Aisamuddin Hassanuddin in the 25m Sports Pistol team event with a score of 1,676 points.

Terengganu trio, Safirredzuan Salim, Raja Ahmad Firdaus Raja Mohd and Nik Muhammad Luqman Nik Omar took the silver medal with a score of 1,670 points in the event participated by only three teams, Pahang, Terengganu and Selangor.

Pahang female trio, Nur Afifah Tarmizy, Nur Fadhillah Ahmad Kamal and Fatimah Azzahra Jamaluddin scooped up the third gold medal for the east coast state by scoring 1,745 points in the 50m Rifle Prone team event.

The silver was won by Terengganu trio, Syarifah Aesyah Kamilah Sayed Ahmad, Nurul Izzati Ali and Nur Aqasha Damia Abdullah with a score of 1,729 points; the event was participated by only three states, Pahang, Terengganu and Selangor.

Based on the competition format, a bronze medal would only be offered if the event has more than three competitors. – Bernama, January 10, 2014.
