J.K. Rowling’s Galbraith sequel ‘The Silkworm’ due in June

The second Robert Galbraith novel, "The Silkworm", has been set for June 24 in North America and June 19 in the United Kingdom.

Again starring private eye Cormoran Strike, the second book puts the ex-military policeman on the trail of Owen Quine, a missing novelist.

With his wife assuming that Quine's merely looking for some solitude away from the world, as is his habit, Strike uncovers evidence that the writer was on the verge of making some very powerful enemies by way of his latest book.

"There are a lot of people who might want to silence him," informs the Robert Galbraith website, "and when Quine is found brutally murdered in bizarre circumstances, it becomes a race against time to understand the motivation of a ruthless killer, a killer unlike any he has encountered before."

J.K. Rowling rose to fame as author of the "Harry Potter" series and explored more pronounced social and political themes in "The Casual Vacancy" before writing last year's breakout "The Cuckoo's Calling" under the Galbraith pen-name.

In common with Quine, she is to follow a similarly reclusive approach for "The Silkworm", with only one date in the publicity diary, appearing in conversation with fellow Scottish crime fiction writer Val McDermid at the Harrowgate Crime Writing Festival on July 18.

And in keeping with the themes of "The Silkworm", McDermid had been assaulted during a 2013 book signing, after a woman objected to her supposed portrayal in the 1994 book about the work of real-life female private investigators, "A Suitable Job for a Woman". – AFP/Relaxnews, February 18, 2014.
