How to find the perfect rosé wines

But between those produced in California, France, Australia and even Corisca, there are countless rosés, and it can be difficult to make the right choice. Here are six tips to keep in mind when browsing the rosé section at your local wine shop.

1) Observe the colour

Even if you aren't a wine expert, the "robe" of a rosé can help you find the flavour you're looking for. And unlike whites and reds, rosés almost always come in a clear bottle. A lighter, almost clear colour indicates citrus and exotic fruits notes, while a darker robe indicates notes of strawberry, blackcurrant and red fruits.

2) Identify the grape varieties

While not the most important factor when choosing a rosé, the types of grapes used can nonetheless provide some indication of tasting qualities. While Merlot and Cabernet lend notes of red fruits, Grenache and Cinsault are characterised by more citrusy notes and tend to provide more full-bodied rosés. Keep in mind, however, that these are generalisations and do not always hold true.

3) Remember that colour is no indication of sugar content

A number of oenophiles have a penchant for either dryer or sweeter wines. And while intuition may suggest that a slightly darker wine would contain more sugar, this is a misconception. A clearer rosé is not necessarily dryer. In France, the designation of "sec" (dry) on the label may be used only on wines that contain less than 4 grams of sugar per litre. And although labelling requirements are often different in other countries, some producers designate whether their rosés are dry or sweet.

4) For French wines look for "AOC" or "IGP" on the label

This tip applies only to French wines, where the notion of "terroir" or place is seen as perhaps the most important factor in determining a wine's quality. The terms "Appellation d'Origine Protégée" (AOP) or "Indication Géographique Protégée" (IGP) both prove that the wine was produced within a given territory. In the hierarchy of wine label distinctions, AOP is the more prestigious, as it also certifies that the wine was produced according to a rigorous set of standards. Both of these distinctions may be taken as a guarantee of quality.

5) Keep certain years in mind

The year any wine was produced offers insight into its tasting qualities, and rosés are no exception. Wines from the previous year (2013, in this case) are likely to be described as fresh, lively and aromatic. For a more full-bodied rosé, with notes of dried fruits and nuts, look to wines produced in 2012 and 2011. Finally, more mature rosés are aged between five and eight years. Produced in barrels, these wines present a hint of vanilla. – AFP/Relaxnews, May 12, 2014.

Spurs sink Villa to seal Europa League place

Tim Sherwood's team needed a point to ensure the sixth place finish in the Premier League which would guarantee a place in Europe's second tier club competition and they were never in danger of missing out thanks to a dominant first half display at White Hart Lane.

Paulinho opened the scoring and Nathan Baker's own goal increased Tottenham's lead before Emmanuel Adebayor's penalty finished off lacklustre Villa before the break.

While the Europa League is regarded as something of poisoned chalice, given its lack of financial reward in comparison to the Champions League and the heavy demands placed on teams by its gruelling schedule, there was no doubt Sherwood wanted to secure qualification in what may well prove his final game in charge.

The Spurs manager, who only replaced Andre Villas-Boas in December, is widely expected to be dismissed in the close-season following weeks of speculation linking the likes of Ajax's Frank de Boer and Southampton's Mauricio Pochettino with the job.

If Sherwood does go, at least he was able to bow out on a high with a result that maintains Tottenham's status as European competitors and also ensured they finished above Manchester United, the only side that could have climbed ahead of the north Londoners, for the first time since 1990.

The always-entertaining Sherwood finished with a flourish as he briefly invited a Spurs fan to sit in the manager's seat in the final moments of the match.

Harry Kane headed Adebayor's cross straight at Brad Guzan in the opening minutes and he went close again with a shot that drew a good stop from the Villa goalkeeper.

The hosts' pressure was rewarded in the 14th minute as Paulinho gave them the lead.

Gylfi Sigurdsson's pass ricocheted off Kane to Paulinho and the Brazilian midfielder fired home from the rebound after his inital shot was saved by Guzan.

Paulinho almost followed his sixth league goal of the season with a seventh moments later, but he dragged a decent chance just wide.

Tottenham increased their lead in the 35th minute when Danny Rose crossed from the left and Baker, under pressure from Adebayor, headed into his own net.

Three minutes later, Adebayor added Tottenham's third from the penalty spot after Gabriel Agbonlahor handled Sandro's shot.

That was the signal for Villa's supporters to spend most of the second half expressing their displeasure at boss Paul Lambert and his team, who had only guaranteed their survival last weekend after another poor season.

Fabian Delph nearly gave those long-suffering fans something to cheer when he tested Hugo Lloris with Villa's first shot on target in the 81st minute.

But, with the result beyond doubt, both teams were happy to countdown the final minutes until the end of the season. – AFP, May 11, 2014.

City, who only needed a draw to win the trophy, finished two points clear of Liverpool whose campaign ended with a 2-1 win over Newcastle United, who had two players sent off.

Samir Nasri calmed City nerves by drilling them ahead in 39th minute and captain Vincent Kompany's neat finish four minutes after halftime put the hosts in cruise control, rounding off a superb debut season for manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The atmosphere at Anfield was muted as an own goal from Martin Skrtel put Newcastle ahead in the first half, but goals from Daniel Agger and Daniel Sturridge ensured they ended with victory against opponents who had Shola Ameobi and Paul Dummett sent off. – Reuters, May 11, 2014.

Boko Haram exploits Nigeria’s slow military decline

Now it struggles to keep security within its own borders as an Islamist insurgency in the northeast kills thousands.

A lack of investment in training, failure to maintain equipment and dwindling cooperation with Western forces has damaged Nigeria's armed services, while in Boko Haram they face an increasingly well-armed, determined foe.

A foe that abducted more than 200 secondary school girls in Chibok, northeastern Nigeria, nearly a month ago. The military still appears to have no idea exactly where they are, but denies it lacks the capacity to get them back.

President Goodluck Jonathan has said that Boko Haram has "infiltrated ... the armed forces and police", sometimes giving the militants a headstart, but the problems go much deeper.

"The Nigerian military is a shadow of what it's reputed to have once been," said James Hall, a retired colonel and former British military attaché to Nigeria. "They've fallen apart."

Unlike Nigerian peacekeepers in the 1990s, who were effective in curbing ethnic bloodshed in Sierra Leone and Liberia, those in Mali last year lacked the equipment and training needed to be of much use in the fight against al Qaeda-linked forces, sources involved in that mission say.

Hall said the Nigerian peacekeepers had to buy pick-up trucks and their armour kept breaking down. They spent a lot of time on base or manning checkpoints.

Military education is still taken very seriously, he said, but equipment and training to use it have been neglected, with radio equipment in particularly short supply.

Army spokesman Brigadier-General Olajide Laleye recognised some of these problems in a news conference on Tuesday. He said the army would "undertake an equipment audit ... with a view to identifying areas where equipment and material are in short supply, unserviceable or even obsolete".

The defence headquarters did not respond to a request for comment, but the military argues that counter-insurgency is something new that they are slowly learning to take on, just as the U.S. military had to learn they couldn't fight al Qaeda in western Iraq using conventional warfare.

"They're having to learn new counter-insurgency skills and get new equipment ... like armoured vehicles," said Kayode Akindele of 46 Parallels, a Lagos-based investment management firm that also consults on financial, political and security risks for foreign investors.

The militants know the military's limitations. A police source said a fighter jet flew over the market town of Gamburu on Monday as a group of gunmen killed at least 125, but the killers didn't flinch, knowing they could not be targeted while scattered in a densely populated area.

President Jonathan declared a state of emergency in the northeast a year ago, ordering extra troops, but security sources say the armed forces remain overstretched. Perhaps as few as 25,000 service-ready troops face an insurgency over a wide area in the northeast, communal violence across north and central Nigeria and rampant oil theft in the south, as well as commitments to peacekeeping missions, one security source says.

Morale is also a problem, says a ground soldier deployed in the northeast who did not wish to be named.

He said the food was bad, sleeping conditions rough, very few people get the leave to which they are entitled, and they live in constant fear of Boko Haram attacks.

"There is just a kind of hopelessness hanging over us," he said.

Not so their adversaries, whose fearless determination is fuelled by dreams of jihadist martyrdom.

"In a typical unit, Boko Haram has between 300 and 500 fighters. It's not a guerrilla force that you can fight half-heartedly," said Jacob Zenn, a Boko Haram expert at US counter-terrorism institution CTC Sentinel. "It's snowballing. It's getting more weapons, more recruits, their power is increasing every day."

On February 12 dozens of fighters loyal to Boko Haram attacked a remote military outpost in the Gwoza hills. A security source with knowledge of the assault said they came in Hilux tracks with mounted machine guns and showered the camp with gunfire.

Boko Haram's fighters had little cover and were easily picked off – 50 of them died against nine Nigerian troops – but they still managed to make off with the base's entire armoury stockpile of 200 mortar bombs, 50 rocket-propelled grenades and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, the source said.

Their ability to dart over the border into Cameroon, whose own security forces have shown little appetite for taking them on, gives the militants an added advantage.

Ethnic and religious divisions within the military have also bred some collusion with Boko Haram, sources say. An artillery soldier said units were sometimes suspiciously ambushed. He is convinced "someone in command leaks our plans to terrorists".

"The military, just like the rest of Nigeria, is fractured, which means it probably does have Boko Haram sympathisers within it," former US Ambassador John Campbell said.

The military isn't that short of money on paper. In 2014 security will swallow nearly 938 billion naira (US$5.8 billion or RM18 billion), a quarter of the federal budget. Of that, the defence ministry will take more than a third, but only 10% is for capital spending.

A government advisor says there was some evidence a few senior officers were pocketing money meant for equipment, so corruption may also be a factor in the shortfalls.

A senior security official, who declined to be identified, said the process of decline in the military has been gradual, starting when the military seized power in the 1960s.

He said Britain, France and the United States had been Nigeria's main military assistance partners, but they gradually backed off from its increasingly quirky and corrupt military dictators, culminating with the venal Sani Abacha in the 1990s.

In the 21st century, Nigeria, now democratic, can be prickly about meeting conditions on military assistance packages, Western diplomats and military officials say, such as giving Western trainers full access to its bases, intelligence sharing and improving its human rights record.

"The human rights issue has been a point of friction for a long time," said one US military official, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The military has repeatedly denied allegations of abuses such as summary executions, but Amnesty International condemned the alleged killing of hundreds of prisoners escaping from Giwa barracks last month. The military said it had no choice but to prevent their escape.

Foreign aid aside, decades of coups made unstable military regimes fear their own armed forces. Each coup plot led to a deliberate under-resourcing of any department under suspicion.

A botched 1985 counter-coup against newly installed Ibrahim Babangida was rumoured to involve planned aerial bombardments, so his junta cut funds to the air force, a security official who remembers the time says. Another failed coup in 1990 allegedly involved military police, so their budget was squeezed.

When democracy returned in 1999, President Olusegun Obasanjo, himself a former military ruler, feared the army, too.

"This starvation of the military has occurred since Obasanjo, as part of a strategy to ensure they couldn't conduct more coups," Campbell said.

Now, as families in Chibok pray for the return of their kidnapped daughters, some fear it may be beyond their armed forces to get them back, and welcome promises of assistance from China, Britain, the United States and France.

"We don't believe there is a serious effort at a rescue," said Lawan Abana, whose two nieces are among the abductees. "The Americans and the others are our last hope." – Reuters, May 11, 2014.

Cannes to open with glitz, glamour and dash of scandal

Sun, celebrities, and a world-renowned film festival have made Cannes synonymous with the glamour, guaranteeing prime people-watching against the backdrop of palm trees and yachts. – Reuters pic, May 11, 2014.Movers and shakers of the film world are boarding yachts or jets to head for the once sleepy Mediterranean seaside town of Cannes for a 12-day party that also serves as a film festival, with this year's line-up heavy on drama and light on humour.

The 67th Cannes Film Festival gets under way on Wednesday with 18 films showing in the main competition for the Palme d'Or prize awarded by a majority female jury headed by New Zealand director Jane Campion, the only woman ever to receive the top Cannes award for her 1993 film "The Piano".

Another 20 films are in the "Un Certain Regard" strand, plus dozens more in the "Directors' Fortnight", the "Critics' Week" and other festival showcases. And, providing the customary dash of controversy, the opening film – "Grace of Monaco" – has been denounced as a "farce" by the late princess's three children.

Cannes is "insane, very intense and fun", said Canadian director David Cronenberg, a Cannes regular whose "Maps to the Stars" starring "Twilight" teen vampire series idol Robert Pattinson as a Hollywood wannabe is in competition.

British director Mike Leigh, a past winner of the Palme d'Or, whose "Mr Turner" is based on the life of the British landscape painter J.M.W. Turner, said screening a film at Cannes is "a great experience".

"I'm always delighted to be there. I think it's my fifth time in competition and I was on the jury so I'm glad to go there with something to do," he said.

For Turkish director Nuri Ceylan, whose "Winter Sleep" is in competition and whose films have regularly won awards at Cannes, "this is an opportunity to showcase the country and its film business because this is where the heart of the industry beats", his producer, Zeynep Ozbatur, said.

American director Bennett Miller's "Foxcatcher" is based on the murder of a championship wrestler by an heir to the DuPont chemical fortune. "The Search" by French director Michel Hazanavicius ("The Artist") is set in war-torn Chechnya.

American actor-director Tommy Lee Jones's "The Homesman" is a frontier drama starring himself and Meryl Streep while other Cannes veterans in competition include France's Jean-Luc Godard with "Adieu au Langage" and Canada's Atom Egoyan with "The Captive".

Add in 25-year-old Xavier Dolan's "Mommy", and Canada has three films in competition to two for the United States, which Cronenberg said is a bit like a victory in the two neighbours' eternal hockey rivalry.

"The interesting thing for me is how much this line-up relies really on 'Old Europe' and America. There are a few Asian films, no German films, very few from Scandinavia and not much from Eastern Europe or Russia," said Scott Roxborough, Berlin bureau chief for The Hollywood Reporter.

"So it's a lot of familiar faces but also familiar areas – lots of French films, as you always have, a fair chunk of American films and others from places we've seen before."

But a party is a party and there is something for every taste. Cannes will host the world premiere of the "How to Train Your Dragon 2" sequel to the animation blockbuster, as well as a blast-from-the-past showing of a restored version of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" cult horror classic from 1974.

The festival also is known for controversy and already has one for this year: its opening film, "Grace of Monaco", starring Nicole Kidman as American actress Grace Kelly who married Prince Rainier of Monaco and died after crashing her car in 1982 in hills above the principality, not far to the east of Cannes.

For months, the trade press has been reporting that the film's French director, Olivier Dahan, and producer Harvey Weinstein, who owns the American distribution rights, have been sparring over the final cut.

This month the Monaco royal family weighed in, calling the film a "farce". Prince Albert and his sisters – Kelly's children Caroline and Stephanie – said a trailer "confirms the totally fictional nature of this film".

Asked about the dispute last month, Thierry Fremaux, the festival's director, alluded to French law which stipulates that a film's director decides on the final cut.

"We're in France, and at Cannes, the only version is the version of the director," Fremaux said.

A whiff of scandal is good for business and Cannes has reliably produced its share ever since the 18-year-old bikinied Brigitte Bardot allowed Hollywood leading man Kirk Douglas to play with her hair in a famous 1953 photo shoot on the beach.

The festival is a media magnet and Cronenberg, who won a jury prize at Cannes in 1996 for his film-noir "Crash", says that is exactly what independent producers, like him, want.

In a telephone interview he said he would probably do at least 500 interviews in Cannes, providing publicity for his new movie the likes of which he could not get anywhere else.

"As an independent we can't afford to send the cast all over the world... (So) it's a fantastic venue to promote a movie."

The "wow" and name-recognition factors for Cannes are what seem to set it apart.

"It has a magical ring," said British screenwriter Stephen Beresford, whose film "Pride" will be shown out of competition.

"When you ring your mum and say your film's got into a film festival, when you say 'Cannes', she knows what you mean." – Reuters, May 11, 2014.

Dr Dre, from LA gangsta rapper to Forbes top dog?

But that is the path likely set to be taken by Andre Young – better known as Dr Dre –  helped by some very cool headphones.

The 49-year-old rapper turned producer and entrepreneur would top Forbes' hip hop rich list after striking a US$3.2 billion (RM10.33 billion) deal to sell Apple the company he co-founded eight years ago, Beats Electronics.

The agreement, which has not yet been finalized, would boost his net worth to some US$800 million, according to Forbes. Some reports suggest Dre could soon become the world's first hip-hop billionaire.

He would pip Sean "Diddy" Combs who was the previous top dog with US$700 million, as well as Jay Z, now in third place with US$520 million, followed by Bryan "Birdman" Williams on US$160 million.

"Hip hop is now central to American popular culture," Robert Thompson, professor of popular culture at Syracuse University in New York state, told AFP after the deal was reported Friday.

"If you get a hip hop artist who can establish a name and a basis of fame and wealth and then they're smart enough to... make sorties into other parts of the culture... that seems a typical American story".

Along the way Dre has discovered and worked with some of the biggest acts in music, including Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Combs and others and pioneered gangsta rap as well as west coast G-Funk.

He has also won six Grammy awards, including becoming the first hip-hop producer to for Producer of The Year in 2001.

But it all started in the tough south LA neighbourhood of Compton, where he was born Andre Romell Young in February 1965, to parents who divorced while he was barely out of short trousers.

Compton was well known for gang violence but also for producing hip hop groups and rappers, including gangsta rap group N. W. A. formed by Young and Ice Cube, making their name with its debut album in 1988 "Straight Outta Compton."

The record by the band was criticized for violent language and triggered a warning from the FBI.

In 1990 he left the group to form Death Row Records, releasing his solo debut "The Chronic" in 1992 to huge commercial success. In 1996 he again left to form Aftermath Entertainment.

Shortly after that, rappers Tupak Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. were murdered, triggering Dre to lay low for a few years.

His comeback came after releasing his second studio album in 1999, when he was credited with discovering white rapper Eminem.

His 2001 Grammy success propelled him up the financial rankings, as he increasingly moved towards producing and business -- co-founding Beats Electronics in 2008 with partner Jimmy Iovine.

The firm makes audio equipment, including the ubiquitous headphones taken up by celebrities and sports stars. In 2012 many were seen at the London Olympic Games.

On Friday, news reports emerged that Apple is preparing a $3.2 billion buyout of Beats Electronics, in what would be the iconic computer giant's biggest acquisition yet.

The Financial Times said Apple would buy not only the headphone brand and other sound equipment but also the firm's recently launched music streaming service, known as Beats Music.

"If this goes through and Dr Dre moves up the ( Forbes) list .. it's not going to be so much for his hip hop artistry," said pop professor Thompson.

"It's going to be for branching out into ... the whole Beats thing, because he thought Apples headphones were inferior," he said.

Dre himself appears confident the deal will go through.

In a video posted on YouTube he brags about the deal with actor Tyrese Gibson, who says Forbes needs to update its hip hop rich list, released only a few weeks ago.

"The first billionaire in hip-hop, right here from the... West Coast," he tells the camera. – AFP, May 11, 2014.

An open letter on hudud

Posted: 10 May 2014 05:53 PM PDT

May 11, 2014

Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad is a member of the PAS central working committee and ex-MP of Kuala Selangor.

When I penned "Forging a political contest beyond hudud", back in August, 2012 (The Edge), I knew it wasn't going to be my last.

Sure enough, it is back and even more vociferously.

Everyone wanted the 13th general election to be about a contest of ideas, policies and performance.

With hudud not on board PAS's political agenda and Pakatan Rakyat's election manifesto, it empowered PAS particularly, to focus its election machinery on an inclusive Islamic agenda affecting the srakyat.

The 52% popular vote for Pakatan was an onerous feat notwithstanding the very-tilted-playing-field, a grossly unfair media and the "faulty" first-pass-the-post electoral system made worse with "gerrymandering".

There is no denying the fact that PAS has certainly benefitted from the coalition politics of Pakatan Rakyat.

Suddenly, PAS seems to have dropped an "atomic bomb" of sorts. It has stolen the limelight from the unending search for the MH370 and the bitter debate on the GST.

The positive response from the Kelantan menteri besar, when challenged by the minister in the Prime Minister's Department to table a private member's bill on hudud, is regarded by many as immensely negative and shocking.

Admittedly, the "Hudud Bill" has thrust the Malaysian populace and electorate to either being its proponents or detractors.

I am fully aware and respectful of the fact that both the proponents and detractors have equally compelling and persuasive argument.

This "open Letter" addressed to all Malaysians, empathises with the anxiety and concern the Hudud Bill has caused, particularly but not confined to, the nascent support-base from "Middle Malaysia", who surely feel let down by PAS.

This letter, however, is not an attempt at debating these issues exhaustively. It only serves to endear that an in-depth discourse or debate is in order.

Lest you have also come to believe that PAS has been trapped into Umno's game plan to eventually break the fraternity-solidarity of Pakatan Rakyat, let this letter reaffirm you of our political acumen of Umno's purported decoy and allay all your concern and anxieties about our naivete.

The news bandied around of PAS uniting with Umno on the hudud agenda is similarly meant to cause a split in Pakatan Rakyat, much as it is meant to incite distrust and contempt for PAS.

But again, the question raging in almost everyone's mind is why must the new Kelantan menteri besar be adamant about tabling the Hudud Bill in the coming parliamentary session?

Has PAS become an Islamic political party that only champions hudud and the Islamic penal code? Has PAS debunked the concept of "the benevolent state"?

Is this move ill-conceived? And with the Hudud Bill, has PAS now come full circle to again be propagating an Islamic state? Is PAS's  "reforms" for real after all? An almost endless list of disturbing questions.

Overnight the Hudud Bill has again demonised PAS. PAS has instantaneously become a punching bag and received unending blows from all quarters.

It is most baffling to witness the sudden change of attitude towards PAS, which a while ago was praised for all the correct things we stood for in defending the right of others to practice the religions and faiths of their choice.

This open letter makes it categorically clear that PAS is indeed committed to and will be unyieldingly consistent with the party's political advocacy of the "Negara Berkebajikan" or "the benevolent state".

PAS shall uphold and would not budge from the battle-cry of "justice for all" and "Islam for all".

We will act firmly and persevere against the posturing of a rigid and seemingly intolerant Islam that is sure fodder for more intense religious bigotry and conflict. We will be unwavering in our partnership with the rakyat to go against any sacrilegious acts on places of worship, the like of cow head intimidation and the debilitating polemic of Kalimah Allah, that have all deepened the religious divide.

While PAS stands corrected in the framing of the Hudud Ordinance of 1993, PAS wishes to be viewed as making its best efforts in fulfilling one of its democratic and mandated obligations to the people of Kelantan, besides other aspects of improving their wellbeing.

I have no qualms in admitting that while the laws ordained by Allah and His Prophet are sacrosanct and inviolable, the codification of these laws represent human effort, which is surely not infallible and, therefore, susceptible to errors of judgments.

As a matter of fact, the drafting of any law is a very delicate undertaking and the Hudud Ordinance is no exception.

That said, I, however, note with much grief and sadness of the overwhelming  prejudices of some disparaging critique borne out of sheer hatred for anything religious, more  so of an Islamic penal code – namely hudud.

Be that as it may, the widely held supposition that the Hudud Ordinance is in conflict with the Constitution, the Penal Code and the basic structure of the Federal Constitution deserves a good debate and discourse.

To be violently persistent that it is against the Constitution and not wanting to listen to the counter argument does not augur well for a thinking Malaysia.

The fact that the Constitution (FC) is without a "Grundnorm" as opposed to the Indian Constitution that has its "secular basic structure" categorically stated in its preamble, makes it all the more difficult for one to be presumptuously assuming that its genetic DNA to be out rightly "secular" or "Islamic".

This writer takes great consolation in noting that some astute legal minds posit that the Constitution is neither secular nor Islamic.

Admittedly, a deeply complex issue like hudud shall continue to take centre-stage in Malaysian politics for many months to come.

It may well be that the detractors of hudud will neither allow nor be able to overcome the notion that hudud can be allowed a place in modern, multi-religious and largely "secular" Malaysia.

It cannot be overemphasised that hudud is an integral part of the Islamic legal system, albeit a small one. In other words, the Islamic legal system is not solely about hudud.

Regrettably though, hudud has always been portrayed as lacking the true spirit of compassion and justice that are so intrinsic in the Islamic legal provision and the comprehensive philosophy of punishment in Islam.

It needs to be again unequivocally emphasised that the Hudud Bill is only applicable on Muslims and Muslims alone.

If that seems like injustice to some, together we shall address the issue in our forthcoming dialogues and discourses.

My colleagues and I in PAS value transparency, openness, constructive feedback and frank exchanges to resolve the many and major issues that beset our nation, hudud just being one of them.

It is in this context of creating the democratic space, that I humbly urge my fellow Malaysians, whether Muslims, adherents of other faiths or atheists to engage hudud and similar issues with mutual respect, decorum and sensitivity through discourses and dialogues.

The current engagements have, however, fallen short of the basic norms of civility and the spirit of compassion as expounded by the founders of our nation. – May 11, 2014.

Hudud dalam psike masyarakat Cina

Posted: 10 May 2014 04:27 PM PDT

May 11, 2014

Mujahid Yusof Rawa is MP for Parit Buntar and PAS National Unity Committee chairman.

– 11 Mei, 2014.
